"Malala"

Reading about fourteen year old “Malala” of Pakistan in The New york Times today, I realized how much we have to be grateful for as women in the United States.

Even though there may be petty infringement issues between neighbors, there is a much larger infringement issue to continue praying about and and supporting.

Girls who attend schools in some parts of Pakistan are in danger of being stopped, forced to lie down and be beaten by strangers, men, who are Taliban.

Malala’s father owns a girl’s school. Her goal was to become a doctor, and later, a politician person in order to  influence the direction of her country.

Malala’s town of Swat, in Pakistan, was forced to evacuate for three months while the Army fought the Taliban.

Upon the family’s return, Malala was identified on a bus by another girl and shot by the Taliban.  Currently, she is in a hospital.

Watching her speak, in English, on the NYT video, was to see a girl with serious eyes, serious goals.

She is taking a stand at her age for the things we take for granted in this country.

I am signing petitions, sharing her story, and becoming more aware of why we must solve our little problems with the thought of supporting universal solutions.
