What We Value About Ourselves

What is it we value about ourselves?

Our intellect?

Our ability to make friends?

Our ability to empathize with others?

Our ability to make sound financial decisions?

What we value most is what we express.

If we have a feeling of privilege and superiority, we value recognition and think it is our due.

If we have a feeling of being downtrodden, we feel a sense of despair and lack of energy.

When we start to value everyone in an uplifting way, and give ourselves hope, we open up the streams of abundance for all of us.

We can work against the separating influences of privilege and poverty.

We can unify behind the feeling of the best good for all of us.

We can be caring for our environment and the privilege of living here on earth.

We can value the studies and insights we are given through science.

We can value the freedom of restrictive social and cultural norms.

Let’s see our society and our world blossom as never before when we give all of us a true value.

Listening for Love

We listen for what we love to do, and then, despite the obstacles, we move in that direction.

Sometimes the obstacles are lack of knowledge or skills.

Sometimes the obstacles are other people’s opinions.

When we listen deeply within, we drop other people’s opinions for the guidance we grow to trust instead.

We acquire the knowledge and skills.

We practice what we love.

A completely new and different world opens to us when we practice what we love.

We move into a flow with the Universe.

We are introduced to those who benefit from our work.

We are recognized for our contribution.

We help create a flow where others can do what they love.

As new community feeling of love and trust and joy and delight is built on listening for what we love and doing it.

Family Beyond Family

Beyond our immediate family members, where is our family community?

I am finding a sense of family in my many craft and hand-work groups.

Knitters, quilters, weavers, spinners, all are givers.

They have all taken the time to learn a skill with various levels of complexity and beauty.

This is a sharing community where all skill levels are respected, and programs and workshops constantly give us all help in improving.

Somehow, when a group of women get together, the conversation is supportive of the issues we all have in common.

We discuss family, work, how to help ease relationships, how to get through hard times.

We celebrate the beautiful things we are all making, congratulate each other on children graduating and becoming self-supporting.

Mainly, there is just an atmosphere of people who have been through good times and bad, who have survived and who are thriving.

It is a place we can receive and give comfort to all of us.

What Does Me Good

I only accept what does me good.

Once I recognize whether a thought is here to do me good or to disrespect me, I can accept it or I can reject it.

I am learning to accept only the thoughts which do me good.

If there is a problem I need to solve, I can get to work to solve it.

If a pesky thought keeps saying the same thing over and over again, once I have discerned this purpose, I can remember to reject it.

What does me good is exerting the control I have over my life, and remembering the new ways I now know to do this.

Pesky, intruding thoughts are immature ones, which have not yet learned to be productive.

They do not accept their responsibility to lift up instead of to put down.

What does me good is to recognize that they are not my thoughts and to send them back to their origin.

I love my work and my ability to recognize what is mine and where I can have good effect.

I choose to live in a way which does me good and which allows me to help others recognize and cultivate the good in their lives.

Guarding Our Inward Parts

With the peace that is within, we can govern our thoughts and keep them from panic.

With our calm thoughts, we can keep a calm body.

Our inward thoughts and our inward functions can remain harmonious together.

The goodness of our thoughts and the purity of our food work together.

The respect we have for our body and our stewardship of it through normal and reasonable exercise contributes to its strength.

Constant loving thoughts toward ourselves insure that we do not overwork.

Diligence and honesty in our work provide ample satisfaction.

Following these practices consistently takes away stress and anxiety.

Forming communities of support and cooperation lets us share services and support one another.

My Overflowing Heart

What is it that I want my heart to overflow with?

Peace or pain?

Confusion or calm?

I am choosing to go within and to pay attention to the joy and peace and calm and trust and happiness that I know is there.

I am not suspended in the middle of some competition for my attention between news entities.

I know how to focus my attention productively.

My heart overflows with the creative inspiration of the life that has been given me.

I can choose not to get distracted by the noise of the news.

There is a deep peace which governs all of our lives when we persist in finding it and in paying attention to it.

Now I am refocusing my attention on the fulfillment of creative inspiration and the things I am led to do with it.

My heart overflows with the power of focusing my attention on that which is mine to love, cherish and adore and create.

Reverend Holliwell

I am reading Reverend Holliwell’s wonderful book “Working with the Law” once again.

This is probably the tenth or twelfth time.

I am always struck by how practical it is.

It puts of the control of our lives back in our own hands and our own thoughts.

It gives clear direction on how to create a better course for ourselves.

Despite the fact that is was published in 1964, it brings out the idea that the principles we live by, as expressed through our thoughts, ultimately determine how we live.

Our thoughts manifest our circumstances.

How we respond to conditions around us through our thoughts creates a good or a bad situation for ourselves.

It seems amazing that this is so, and yet it is one of those timeless philosophies expressed in his clear words in 1964.

Even with the really destructive conditions we find ourselves in politically, we can still clear a different course for ourselves through creating a picture of what we truly desire.

I am encouraged once again by a writer who is sharing the very best of what the mind is capable of.

The "Aha!" Moment

The moment when you realize something new.

The moment when something makes sense to you in a different way.

When you are listening, and an answer comes to you in an unexpected direction.

The “aha!” moment is not something predictable.

It is fresh, and notable for the fact that it was unexpected.

It is also something that is appreciated because it meets a need in a new way.

The “aha!” moment carries you forward with certainty.

It provides valuable momentum.

It compels action.

It is a blessing.

It is uplifting.

It enriches the project and moves things forward as part of a whole.

It is comprehensive.

It includes the people and processes that are needed.

It aligns things so that the project proceeds in an orderly and efficient way.

You know when you are in the presence of an “aha!” moment because it uplifts and moves things forward with a comprehensive power.

It makes you feel happy.

It carries you along with it.

Be prepared for an “aha!” moment when you move with purpose and expectation.

Redefining Family

Those who are of like-mind.

We move from family to family as we create new experiences in our lives.

Drawing a community around us, or joining one, is the most natural thing in the world.

We have gifts to share.

We appreciate the gifts of others.

In that space, we create a community, or family.

Our family of origin gives us our first sense of family.

It can be positive or negative.

We build on both aspects.

At some point, we realize we are part of the creation of that family.

And we also realize, we can have a powerful role in creating the community we desire around us.

We define family according to our happiness, our disappointments, our appreciation, our resentments.

And then, finally, we define family and community the way we consciously choose to do so.

Standing Up Straighter

Looking through my new eyeglass prescription, it felt as though the ground was closer, so I found myself standing up straighter in order to create the distance I was used to seeing.

Even though I know my eyes would adjust, I decided to remind myself to walk with better posture.

This contributed to my small, but consistent, exercise routine.

Little habits, practiced over time, have deep and lasting results.

When we consciously cultivate what we want, we begin to displace unwanted unconscious habits.

I have begun to replace reliving old remembered scene with people for the new ones I want to experience with them.

I have the fun feeling sometimes of the last little synapse in the brain’s aero-network getting read to fire, and then realizing with disappointment that I have redirected the sequence to fire differently.

It makes me laugh as I recognize my new habit or new scenario, and I enjoy where it is taking me.

I can take a straighter route to my goals for happiness as well as standing up straighter as part of a practice for good posture.

Lasting Values

Our strongest and truest lasting values come from within.

There is no likelihood of these ever being destroyed as they are a permanent part of our nature.

What we are learning about now, is our increasingly intense ability to identify and express them.

We are discovering our real worth, and we are demanding to see it in our leaders.

We are discovering our power, from within, and learning to exercise it without.

It is taking many forms, and for so many of us, this is the first time we have awakened from our sense of hopelessness.

It is finally so bad, that a mighty force is arising.

Make no mistake, this is of historic proportions.

What we know to be good and true, is that each of us is significant.

We raise our children with that view.

We suffer when it is taken from us in schools, in jobs, in neighborhoods, in laws.

It is so easy to respect every one of us.

We are each intelligent, with a sense of humor.

We love our families, and we all want to take care of them.

The many movements and actions which are beginning to sweep our country are a recognition of our wonderful worth.

We are acting to create the lasting values we all want to see throughout our country.

My Freedom is Forever

As I gain more awareness of the thoughts I have, I realize I can give them a short run or I can give them a long run.

The thoughts which are positive and helpful deserve a long run.

The negative thoughts do not deserve any space at all.

I can catch them more quickly and cut off their run so it is very short, indeed.

That way, the freedom I am finding can last forever.

Every time I redirect my thought in a positive direction, I give myself more freedom.

Every time I catch a negative thought and cancel it, I give myself more freedom.

My freedom increases every time I do this.

It goes on longer and longer.

I wake up into freedom and I go to sleep in freedom.

Every moment of my day which I can spend in freedom increases my freedom.

I can remember my freedom when I wake up during the night.

I can live in freedom whenever I give it to myself.
