Voting Day

I finally found the quietness.

Right under the surface.

All the dismay, concern, dread.

Of our elections, for heaven’s sake.

A usually joyful process.

A celebration.

Until the widespread cheating and stealing of elections.

I am so grateful to the framers of our Constitution, despite its flaws.

There are statements of such beauty, opportunity, equality.

But there is no way to legislate against greed.

Goodness has to be in your heart.

I am glad our Constitution made room for it.

I am sorry that it didn’t crowd out the greed, though.
